First Crysis 2 Screens?
Soon enough and most likely fake enough, the first Crysis 2 screenshots are here. Nobody knows how these have made their way out of the Crytek HQ, but Czech website InCrysis.cz reports them as Crysis 2 screens.
The latest hardware news…

Here is a demonstration of the physics in Crysis, pretty impressive to be honest, some of the coolest physics applied in a game ever
To those interested .. Crytek has released a free, festive multiplayer map pack for Crysis. Word is: “Some of you might know this map pack series from FarCry already. We wanted to continue it for Crysis and have turned it into an official map pack that is being developed and approved by Crytek.
The package includes 5 brand new multiplayer maps for Crysis. All of them have been tested by Crytek’s QA department and the professional Crysis teams [00] - Die Doppelnullen, GT - GlobalTeam.eSports and N! - Ninth Gaming.”

Crytek’s Crysis demo just won’t stay under our radar. After the DX10 on DX9 script issue was discovered, a number of people started to scrutinize the script files. Now, we have yet another surprise to report about.
The new surprise comes in the form of guns, including nearly everything that you will be able to view in the full game. Next in line are vehicles, tanks, boats and helicopters. All you have to do is to download the “demofunmap #5″ from here, and then extract the level.pak to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Game\Levels\island, or whereever you installed the demo. Just be sure to back up the original level.pak so you don’t have to reinstall the demo.
It seems that Crytek has underestimated gamers’ curiosity and desire to look at the script files and editor. And stay off the center of the map, since it triggers the final cut scene and ends the demo. Have fun flying…..

You have probably read all the performance previews of Crysis, both under Windows Vista and XP. If you haven’t had a chance to check those out, the bottom line is that Windows XP performance is far better than Vista.
The “Very High” settings were Vista exclusive until someone decided to play around with .cfg files. According to the post made by “LennyRhys” user on the crysis-online.com forums, you can run the game with very high settings, even on your XP. Of course, you will get a 10 FPS drop, but it will look very close to Vista’s highly praised DX10 graphics.
According to that post, all you need to do is tweak the configuration files in \CVarGroups\ by copying “very high” lines and then paste them over the “high” settings lines and the game will load the highest possible settings. As you can see from the picture below, you get better shadows, the game looks more realistic and the water looks much more natural.
So there you have it. Crytek likes Vista more than XP. You can find more info here, and here are some pictures to show you the difference.

Phenom X4 will be AMD’s first quad-core processor series for the desktop market and with K10 architecture as the base it is a highly renowned and anticipated processor. AMD is expected to launch its new processor series at the end of November and despite the fact that the launch is getting very close now the performance previews are still very few, which is very different from Intel’s marketing of the Core architecture. Expreview has published some of the first comparative benchmarks with AMD’s new Phenom X4 processor and the results could very well explain why AMD hasn’t revealed anything before this.
Expreview has compared Phenom X4 to Intel’s Core 2 Extreme QX9650 processor, but also Intel’s current processors based on the Core architecture. The benchmark used is none other than the recently released Crysis demo and its integrated processor benchmark paints anything but a pretty picture with AMD’s new processor architecture.
The Phenom X4 processor was overclocked to 3.0GHz, but still gets beat by all three Intel processors (running at the same frequency) in all tests. The AMD RD790 chipset was used in the Phenom X4 system, while Intel P35 was the choice for the Intel processors.
It’s less than a month till AMD will officially unveil its Phenom X4 series, but if these benchmarks are truly representative for the new AMD architecture it will not be able to keep up with Intel…
Electronic Arts and Crytek Studios have announced that Crysis, the same one we talked about for past few months if not years, has gone Gold.
If we put a few problems behind us, such as lack of SLI and its Vista-loving “very high” settings issue, we can easily say that Crysis is the most anticipated and most promising game this year.
Still to come, Epic’s Unreal Tournament 3 and various other games, which should be out in November.
Crysis is still scheduled for retail release on November 16th.
The Crysis demo has been out for a few days and we have already heard from various people that Nvidia’s SLI doesn’t work.
We would probably let this one go, if Crysis weren’t a “The Way It’s Meant To Be Played” title. Nvidia reacted and issued a statement that the full game will support SLI; of course, this will happen after you install a patch. In addition to that, it looks as if the Forceware 169.01 64-bit drivers also have some problems with the 64-bit version of the game.
We know that Crysis is only a Beta, but since we are talking about the TWIMTBP title, SLI is a must. Another interesting story about Crysis just went online, so be sure to drop in a bit later.Source: http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3894&Itemid=1
We played with MSI’s latest gaming creation, simply called GX600, today. This machine is based on an Intel T7300 dual core 2GHz CPU with 4MB cache, 2 GB memory and 240GB hard drive.
The heart of the machine is Geforce’s 8600M graphic card with 512MB memory, and we can tell you that this notebook scores about 2300 in 3Dmark06 and that you can nicely play Crysis at 1024×768 at medium settings. This is the best you can expect from a mobile graphic card.
This machine can also overclock with a press of a button from 2.0 to 2.4GHz, and you will gain even more performance. We have yet to play with that setting, but we saw that in action back in September.
Here is what the machine looks like.
