Motorola has unveiled the RAZR2 that promises to be everything like the RAZR of 2004, only better.
The next-generation RAZR packs cutting edge features such as CrystalTalk technology, up to 2GB of on-board memory, Web browsing, real-time point-to-point video and ultra-fast menu navigation, all packed into a slimmer, stronger, sleeker design.
Called the RAZR² (that’s pronounced as razor-two), it is 2mm thinner than the previous generation RAZR cellphones. It also features a 2.0-inch external screen for crisp picture, caller ID and a 2.2-inch internal screen with twice the resolution of the original RAZR. Motorola has incorporated a seamless casing, a soft touch back and a stunning vacuum metal front finish.
Design:
At the core of RAZR2 is a stainless steel internal frame to provide strength and durability. The huge exterior lens is made with chemically hardened glass to be more scratch resistant. Motorola tested the cast aluminum hinge in more than 100,000 lab tests to help ensure that every time a customer flips open the device, it will work perfectly.
Models:
The RAZR2 family will include three new handsets – V9 (3G HSDPA), V9m (EVDO CDMA) and V8 (GSM)
Some versions of RAZR2 will run Linux/Java, giving Motorola entry to the next generation of mobile architecture.
Details:
The RAZR2 V8 has a completely redesigned User Interface (UI) so consumers can search contacts even faster. This eliminates duplicate entries for the same person while allowing contacts to have multiple numbers. The main menu is customizable, so consumers are never more than 2-3 clicks away from favorite applications, and even messaging is easier; RAZR2 automatically recognizes what type of message consumers are sending. CrystalTalk technology on the RAZR2 automatically adjusts audio to ensure clear calls even in a noisy environment. With the new ARM 11 processor, processing speed is 10 times faster than the original RAZR and with high-speed USB 2.0 it only takes 2-3 seconds to transfer a song.
Availability:
The RAZR2 is immediately available from pre-order. GSM versions are expected to start shipping in early July, while the CDMA variants are expected to show up later in the summer. Pricing remains unknown!
The VAIO TZ weighs just around 2.62lbs. It sports an 11.1-inch widescreen LCD with LED backlight supporting resolutions of 1366×769. Sleek! It is based on the tried and tested Intel 945 chipsets with integrated GMA 950 graphics. Featuring Intel Core 2 Duo ultra low voltage processor, it can munch up to 2GB of DDR2 memory. And it just gets better! There is no compromise anywhere, it also features a built-in DVD Writer, a 2.5-inch 160GB HDD and 1.8-inch 32GB SSD. Yes all of it together in the same system.
The VAIO TZ will also offer 802.11a/b/g wireless, Gigabit Ethernet, a modem, and Bluetooth, as well as two USB ports, ExpressCard 34mm slot, 0.3 mega pixel camera, microphone, a memory stick reader, Firewire, a VGA out, Secure Digital slot, and a fingerprint reader.
The TZ family will offer 2 slightly different notebooks at start. VAIO TZ11MN/N and VAIO TZ11XN/B are the two models under the spotlight. The former will feature a silver colored lid, while the latter has an all-black lid. The processor used in both notebooks is Ultra-Low Voltage Intel Core 2 Duo U7500 clocked at 1.06 GHz
The Vaio TZ series will be available in Japan from May 26th. Expect worldwide availability soon…

Not wanting to feel left out of the mad Santa Rosa rush we’ve seen over the last few days, Panasonic has introduced its first Let’s Note model to sport Intel’s new chipset, the CF-Y7. This 14.1-inch upgrade features a 1,400 x 1,050 display, 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo L7300, 1GB of RAM, four-flavor WiFi, and a super multi drive, and ships with Windows Vista Business. Also on board are an 80GB hard drive, SD reader, and a claimed 7.5-hour battery, but only a PCMCIA slot instead of the preferred ExpressCard. Hitting Japan on May 18th — and possible the US as a Toughbook in the future — the Y7 is expected to go for around ¥275,000 ($2,227).
THE UPCOMING iteration of 3DMark will only be available for Windows Vista and DirectX 10.
In a blog post to the Futuremark website, Nick Renqvist says that “the next generation 3DMark will be Windows Vista only, and will require DX10 compliant hardware.”
So why no fallback to DX9? Nick cunningly anticipates this point. “You may ask: Why not fallback to DX9 then?” Yes Nick, we just did. “Well, we already have a Vista enabled DX9 benchmark (3DMark06) and the last three 3DMarks have all been DX9″.
So there you have it. Unless you’re in the cool boys club with a nice GeForce 8×00 or Radeon 2×00, you won’t be able to run a pointless number-generating programme with no actual real-world worth. So you might want to cry a little.
Interestingly, Nick says that the latest 3DMark will contain volumetric effects, based on DX10, that will bring “cinematic rendering” quality to the series. We’ve been waiting for cinematic rendering on our PC ever since Nvidia announced that it would be available to us all thanks to the awesome power of the GeForce FX5800. It still isn’t.

Our sources confirmed that ATI is working hard to release its R650 chip. The 65 nanometre chip is getting closer to launch day by day and aims for some high clocks.
This won’t just be a simple die shrink of an existing marchitecture as ATI plans to redesign some parts of the chip. The major architectural difference is that R650 will have more texture power as this was recognizes as one of the weakest points of R600.
ATI aims for higher clocks, closer to 1,000MHz and obviously it will improve the usage of the available bandwidth.
As the chip is going to be shrunk, you can expect significantly less energy consumption. All together this will be what R600 was suppose to be, a Geforce 8800 GTX / Ultra killer, but the problem is that Nvidia will also have something new by the time ATI finishes R650.
We are looking at a August to September launch for R650, but can we really trust ATI in its plans. We hope for MAD.ATI (DAAMIT)’s sake that they can pull this one off. And in case you haven’t heard it before, R650 will be comertially known as Radeon HD 2950 XTX and HD 2950XT.

“EVGA Geforce 8800Ultra works at 655 MHz for the core and 2250 MHz for memory, while Gainward works at reference 612/2160MHz. When paired in SLI both cards works at a reference 612/2160 MHz. The situation is different than before when the clocks in SLI adapts to the faster card. Now we had to set the clocks on the cards manually to 655/2250 MHz. Gainward’s card did well with EVGA “SuperClocked” clocks and we didn’t encounter any issues during the test in SLI.

Alternate has started taking preorders for Asus P5K3/Wifi-AP DDR3 only motherboard and it is offering the same board with 2 GB of DDR3 memory.
The board looks cool and Alternate claims it will be able to ship it to you in three to five working days including the pricey DDR3 memory. The price is horribly high as you will have to pay a whopping €650 for the board with rather modest 2 GB of DDR3 memory.
We believe that many people will go for combo boards such as MSI’s P35 Neo Combo we tested here or P35 Neo Platinum that is soon to arrive.
